Severe Flooding Affects City Jail in Buenos Aires

Intense rain fell early Monday morning and caused flooding in the City Police's detention center, leading to a security operation to temporarily relocate the inmates. The affected detention center is located in Comuna 8, in the Villa Lugano neighborhood of Buenos Aires.

According to police sources, the place was partially flooded, which forced the temporary relocation of inmates to the hallways to ensure their safety. In light of this situation, superiors in the force were informed, and reinforcements were requested to prevent possible escape attempts, given that the detention center has only four guards for 48 detainees.

The intervention of members of the Tactical Unit for Interventions in Detention Centers (DUTIA) and other areas of the city force allowed the situation to normalize in a few minutes. Additionally, two other incidents were reported in different cells, with confrontations between inmates that were quickly controlled.

The first confrontation took place in the detention center of Comuna 14, located in Palermo, due to incidents between inmates. In detention center 11 B in Villa Devoto, two inmates were restrained for causing injuries to each other.
